South Malda College was established in the year 1995 at New 18th Mile, Baishnabnagar in Kaliachak Block III of Malda District of West Bengal in order to serve the Students of the adjoining areas pursue higher education. The college upholds the ideals of the founder Late A. B. A. Ghani Khan Chowdhury to achieve excellence in higher education, empowerment through knowledge, inclusive growth for socio-economic change and sustainable development through hard work and sincere efforts by all associated with this rural based institution.

This is a matter of great satisfaction that the teaching, non-teaching staff, students and the Governing Body have been working as a team with an excellent level of understanding and missionary real which will undoubtedly prove a great boon for this institution to grow from strength to strength in its pursuit of knowledge and excellence. Our institute has done a commendable job in the field of infrastructure and all round development of the students with social commitment through extension activities.
